If I change the name of a group, role or workflow, I still see the old name in role set up. Why is that?
Technically, this issue arises because roles in our system are designed to work with the Entity Name, which is the name assigned to an entity (such as a workflow) at the time of its creation. The Entity Name acts as an unchangeable ID, ensuring consistency and stability within the system.
When a user renames a workflow, group, or any other entity in Vince Live, they are actually updating the Entity Alias, not the Entity Name.
Entity Alias is what is displayed to the user, giving the impression that the name has changed. However, the underlying Entity Name remains the same and entity name is displayed in resource drop down in roles screen, as we are showing the entity name here, you’re not able to find the updated workflow name in resource drop down.
We are currently working on an internal change request to explore a design change that will allow the updated names to be properly displayed in resource name dropdowns. This review and potential implementation are planned for September or October.
We’d like to suggest a workaround that may help you manage the situation. To retrieve the original workflow name, please follow these steps:
- Inspect the workflow, navigate to the "Network" tab, and select the Workflow.
- Proceed to the tags section in the preview area, where you will find the original workflow name.
The workflow alias, on the other hand, corresponds to the renamed workflow.
