Onboarding App Builder
How to give users access to App Builder and choose the right permission level.
Before you start
App Builder is enabled for your tenant by Vince as part of your subscription. Once enabled, you (the tenant administrator) control which of your users can use it and what they can do, through Vince Live roles.
App Builder permission levels
| Level | Can do | Can't do |
|---|---|---|
| Read | View apps and their descriptions in the App Library | Run or execute apps |
| Run | Open and use apps as an end user | Edit anything |
| Write | Build, edit, and use apps | Deploy (publish) to end users |
| Deploy | Build, edit, deploy, and use apps | — |
| All | Same as Deploy | — |
A typical setup has at least three roles: a Viewer (Read), an End user (Run), and an App builder (Write or Deploy). Most organizations grant Deploy to only a small group.
Step 1. Open the role manager
In Vince Live admin, navigate to Roles. For full details on access management, see the Vince Platform Access management documentation.
Step 2. Create or edit a role
Create a new role (or edit an existing one) and give it a clear name like "App Builder – Builder" or "App Builder – End user." For a step-by-step walkthrough, see the Configure Custom Roles video tutorial.
Step 3. Add the App Builder permission
Find the App – App Builder permission in the permission list and select the level (Read / Run / Write / Deploy / All) for this role.
Step 4. Assign users to the role
Add the users (or user groups) who should have this level of access. For details on inviting new users or managing groups, see How to invite a new user and Configure User Groups.
Step 5. Confirm access
Have the user sign in and confirm they can see App Builder in the navigation and perform the actions their permission allows.
Granting users access to resources (workflows & tables)
App Builder permission only governs whether someone can use App Builder itself. Whether a builder can add a specific workflow or table as a resource to their app is governed separately by Vince Platform permissions on the underlying resource.
