Functionality and performance are just two of the factors that make the Vince Excel add-in the best data maintenance tool for Infor M3 users.

VXL Classic was one of the first products to come out of the Vince offices, and it really changed the perspective on what data maintenance in Infor M3 could look like. It still is. What many don’t know is that there are quite compelling reasons to make a switch to the cloud-based Excel add-in. Even if you’re using an On Premise M3 solution (see info below).

Product manager Thormod Berger at Vince, sums it all up in 4 simple points:

1) Direct Excel integration

A major advantage of the Excel Add-In is the ability to manage data directly within Excel.

In VXL Classic, you do your tasks in Excel, close down Excel, open VXL Classic, locate the Excel file and then click run. It’s still much faster than doing it manually, but the add-in takes it to the next level.

– In the cloud based Excel add-in, you simply do what you need in Excel, press “run” in the Vince sidebar and you’re done, explains Berger.

Who can use the Excel add-in?

Everyone using M3 CloudSuite or M3 On premise 13.4 with ION.

2) Do it yourself

The Excel add-in is connected to our cloud platform, which comes with workflows builder that is both intuitive and easy to learn, while at the same time being significantly more powerful. That has positive ripple effects:

– More people can become super users. That means departments can create new workflows and processes without involving IT, cutting down the time from idea to action by a lot, says Berger.

A workflow is series of steps for automating, organizing and executing tasks involving data, from retrieval and presentation to transformation and delivery.

3) Read from folder-feature

Vince’s cloud solution automates data imports as it can read Excel-sheets directly from a specified folder.

For example, if you receive updated prices from your a supplier, you can simply drop the file in the folder, and Vince automatically imports the updated prices into Infor M3, cutting down manual labor and reducing the risk of errors.

– Many QMSs send their results in an Excel sheet. If you’re using our cloud-based solution, you can now drop the QMS report in a folder, and Vince will automatically send the results to Infor M3 via APIs. This also means goods in receipt can be automatically be validated the moment the results come in, elaborates Berger.

4) Unmatched Import Speeds

Performance-wise, the Excel add-in outperforms VXL Classic by a mile, mainly due to its ability to handle large data loads much faster. Berger illustrates the big difference:

– For example, creating around 30 000 new storage locations would take you a couple of hours in Classic. With the Excel add-in, it takes about 3 minutes, he says.
