How Brødrene Dahl got a grip on who could do what in M3

Brødrene Dahl is one of Norway's biggest distribution companies, with around 80 locations and 1,500 people working inside Infor M3 every single day. But knowing exactly who had access to what in that system was a different story. Until they found the right tool.

Brødrene Dahl is a holding company operating across plumbing, heating, industry, marine, aqua, oil & gas, hydropower and traffic safety, along with a ventilation and tile business through three subsidiaries.

Too many keys to too many doors

With so many people working in M3 across so many locations, Brødrene Dahl started to lose track of who actually needed access to what. Roles were built too wide, so plenty of users ended up with access to functions that had nothing to do with their job. Building more precise roles took time nobody had, so the company kept relying on too few, too broad roles instead, and there was no complete view of who needed what.

That made the yearly SOD audit, the process that documents segregation of duties in M3, a headache in itself. It was slow, it was easy to get wrong, and there was no real way to be sure the results hadn't been quietly manipulated along the way.

From guesswork to a full 360 view
