Two processes, one principle

Sandvik Rock Processing started with the process, not the technology. Together with Vince, the team focused on two areas where manual work around M3 created delays and made the organization dependent on spreadsheets.

 

1. Forecasting in fifteen minutes

 

The challenge

The monthly aftermarket forecast took around four hours. Files arrived in different formats and users prepared, uploaded and checked the data manually.

The new process

Users upload the file in one guided application. Conversion, validation and upload to M3 are handled in the same process, reducing the work to approximately fifteen minutes.

2. Dual sourcing without spreadsheet dependency

The challenge

Supplier allocations and sourcing calculations lived in Excel. Strategic and operational purchasing exchanged files, with limited history and a growing dependence on the person maintaining them.

The new process

The application brings supplier alternatives, target shares, lead times and purchase quantities into one shared process connected to M3.

The sourcing decision, directly in M3

Purchasers can review the relevant sourcing information alongside the planned purchase order, select an alternative supplier and create the required proposal without moving between disconnected files.

Changes and comments are stored centrally. The organization gains traceability and no longer has to rely on email chains or locally stored spreadsheets.
